Your eyes do not decieve you! Yes it really is Res Gestae Divi Augusti! The most well preserved copy in temple of Octavian Augustus in Ankara. I went for a walk with my camera yesterday. First I visitied Roman Bath and cementary. There are real tombstone with "D M" on them, I will post a picture of one or two of them later. And there are pillars that talk of Augustus' deeds too, so they are probably from the temple too.

Then I went to the Temple of Octavian August and the door to the complex was open and there was a man inside. Guarding standing by the door told me that he is an American and he got a permission to enter but if I want I amy enter too but be quick. Sure as the sun rises in the moning I run in as a deer snapping pictures of everything I could. And yes, this picture is it. It is definitely Res Gestae Divi Augusti! Just red the first line in big letters and compare it to the text here: http://penelope.uchicago.edu/Thayer/E/Roman/Texts/Augustus/Res_Gestae/1*.html

...GESTARVM DIVI AVGVSTI QVIBVS ORBEM TERRA... IMPERIO POPVLI ROM...
and the second line in smaller letters:
...ET INPENSARVM QVAS IN REM PVBLICAM POPVLVMQVE R...VM FECIT INCISARVM
and the third in even smaller letters:
...AHENEIS PILIS QVAE SV..T ROMAE POSITAE EXEMPLAR SVBIECTVM
and so on, and so on...

It is definitely it. And I was there and I have seen it. Now I can die in peace.

P.S. Alas, dear readirs, you can not read the inscription because blogger reduced the size and quality of the picture. Mail me at ntufar@gmail.com and I will send the full 1.8MB version of the picture
